welcome to the oasis

Al Ghadab literally translates to the oasis... a very fitting name for such an establishment as this. Engulfed on all sides by the desert sands of Mazra`at Turayna, just inward of the Qatar coastline, it is home to whom sprung from myth and legend: the Arabian Horse. When God created the horse he said to the magnificent creature: I have made thee as no other. All the treasures of the earth lie between thy eyes. Thou shalt carry my friends upon thy back. Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me. And thou shalt fly without wings, and conquer without any sword. In a tale whispered through the ages, it is rumored that the mare was born from the breath of the Creator; no animal on earth could improve upon her nature or form. He endowed the animal with spirit from the North, strength from the South, speed from the East, and intelligence from the West. It is said that she was in foal and gave birth to a colt; in good time, they were mated. Generation after generation, her descendants replicated her perfect beauty, intelligence, and agile strength. The shepherd named her Baz. She is the Eve of the Arabian horse breed. Among the memoirs published by European adventurers who traveled through the Middle East are descriptions of Bedouin ways, beliefs, and possessions—the most valued of which were their horses.

our strains

Egyptian Arabians are only those whose sires and dams descend from a special pool of horses used in the Egyptian purebred Arabian breeding program. The various bloodlines reflect the love and dedication that breeders have always had regarding the preservation, history, and essence of this beautiful and captivating breed. Basic among many variations are the Muniqi, Saglawi, Abayyan and Kuhailan, all descending from the Kuhaylan, which means "purebred." The Straight Egyptian is the blending of strains of pure, undisputed, desert heritage. Dedicated breeders of the Egyptian Arabian are committed to the preservation of this purest of all equine blood. To lose the purity of a single mare through careless breeding is a sin among them. Many of the most successful and sought after horses in the American show ring are the results of the infusion of pure Egyptian blood. The Straight Egyptian Arabian represents less than 2% of the Arabian breed registered in North America, and Al Ghadab is proud to offer and represent these bloodlines. The primary ancestral elements represented by our breeding programme are Egypt I & II, Blunt and Inshass, certified by Al Khamsa.
